Kathy started her career in the Civil Service before moving into the NHS. Her varied career has given her a deep understanding of public sector issues and the workings of national and local government.
Before joining Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber, Kathy was Head of Innovation and Research at NHS England, responsible for the first two rounds of the Innovation and Technology Payment and for the Clinical Entrepreneur Programme. During this time, she secured the relicensing of the 15 health innovation networks for a further five years.
Kathy has had a varied public services career. Starting out working in the Department for Social Security’s Benefits Office, she moved to become a Fraud Investigator and then into measuring the cost of benefit fraud and error. She later moved over to the Department of Health where she worked in a variety of roles, including the delivery of large-scale strategic projects, policy development, corporate support, commercial projects and assessing the value for money of other public bodies, including the Food Standards Agency and NICE.
