Laura Squire OBE

Laura Squire OBE

Laura was born in Surrey but moved to West Yorkshire in the late 1990s, brought up her four sons here and it is now her adopted home. She began her career as a medical research scientist but has spent most of her career working in central Civil Service Departments. She trained as a tax specialist, working in operational roles combatting both tax fraud and avoidance, before moving into leadership roles in change management and policy. She was awarded her OBE following her leadership of a campaign using novel approaches to prompt disclosures of undeclared profits and investments held offshore. Laura came back to health in 2020, developing the policy delivered through the NHS COVID-19 vaccine programme and in 2021 was appointed Chief Healthcare Quality and Access Officer for the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.

Outside work, Laura loves spending time with family and friends, on the water as an active member of Bradford Amateur Rowing Club or wandering around the Dales.
