Leeds launches plans to improve people’s health and wellbeing

Citywide plans to improve people’s health and wellbeing in Leeds launched this month.

The Leeds Health and Wellbeing Strategy and the Healthy Leeds Plan have been updated and strengthened to reflect the latest understanding of what people in Leeds most need. Together, the Strategy and Plan set out what researchers and innovators should focus on to help Leeds realise its aims.

The Health and Wellbeing Strategy aims to break the link between poverty and poor health, identifying 12 priorities where city leaders agree they can make the biggest difference – from improving housing, to maximising the benefits of world-leading research and technology, through to better support for carers.

The Healthy Leeds Plan outlines how the health and care system will transform over the next five years to improve health outcomes for the people.

These are both central to the city’s ambition to be the best in the UK in which to live and work (the Best City Ambition).
